WIC
WIC (Women, Infants and Children) is a supplemental nutrition program for pregnant women, new mothers, and children under the age of five.
We provide families with breastfeeding support, nutrition education, and healthy foods. There are specific income guidelines that families must meet to qualify for the program, however, if you receive Medicaid, SNAP, or ADC, you are automatically eligible.    The Wahoo WIC clinic is held every third Monday of the month from 9:30a.m. to 3:00p.m. For more information, call 402-727-0608.

Saunders County Backpack Program
The Backpack program offers additional nutrition for children.
Food bags are sent home with children at school. Please ask your school office for a form if you are in need.
A backpack program coordinated by the Saunders County Ministerial Association began in 2012 helping local children in families experiencing food insecurities. Every Friday over 90 children bring home healthy snacks and easy-to-prepare foods in their backpacks to help offset any food shortages they might face over a weekend.
Proteins, fruits, and vegetables are staples in the bags every week. The food items in the bags rotate on a four-week basis.  The food is packed in grocery bags and the school staff then distributes the bags for students to carry home in their own backpacks.
The program is being funded through the Ministerial Association. Bethlehem Lutheran Church provides the space for food storage and packing, but the effort is a joint one among many churches.
Anyone wishing to make a monetary donation to the backpack program may drop it off at First Bank Nebraska or any church. Checks should be made out to the Saunders County Ministerial Association
