Women of the ELCA

OUR MISSION & PURPOSE

As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

WELCA at Bethlehem is a Bible study group and service organization for all woman in the congregation who are interested in joining. It meets the third Thursday of the month in the church fellowship hall.

The focus of the monthly meetings are member-led Bible studies based on WELCA’s “Gather” magazine and service projects. Members enjoy fellowship and friendship plus some social time and refreshments. Throughout the year, delegations typically attend regional and statewide WELCA gatherings.

Over the years Bethlehem’s WELCA has assembled and donated hundreds of health kits, school kits, and layettes for Lutheran World Relief and made cash and in-kind donations to Synod serving organizations and community groups.
